The ‘Stray No More’ is a new portable and easy-to-use pet barrier designed for both dogs and cats to stop them from escaping from open doors. This unit was commissioned by Tammy Ven Dange, former RSPCA CEO, after she conducted a number of user interviews and trials in order to come up with a basic understanding of what the product can and should be capable of.
The main design was roughly laid out on paper with the main points being, an expandable design, easy wall mounting, and quick collapsing. Much of the modelling was done on a combination of PTC Creo and SolidWorks as Creo allowed for a fast and easy to transfer parametric file, and SolidWorks allowed for some basic forces to be tested and calculated on the given material. From here the prototypes were 3D printed on a resin printer to give a similar weight and feel to a moulded plastic production variant.
