BROD BURGER MENU
BrodBurger came wanting to refresh the standard menu board they had on the side of the van. The sign had to fit into the old menu’s spot, and also maintain its readability and sizing.
Taking the measurements of the original sign and the lettering, the menu was created in Adobe Illustrator and sliced in half. The top section contained the burger and the bottom section contained the hotdogs and chips. This meant that if any menu updates were required in the future the top or bottom signs could be replaced or updated.
From here the menu was placed in the APS-Ethos program and prepped for the laser etching to take place. Testing showed that for maximum clarity of the text a lighter and faster etching style would be better. The etching took around four hours to be produced was done on a 7mm plywood board with a waterproof backing.
From here a light sanding with high grit sandpaper got rid of any wood imperfections before a satin varnish was applied. This teamed with the waterproof backing mean that if the van were set up outside the menu board would not deteriorate over time.
The menu was then mounted on top of a baseboard the entire assemble slotted into the frame on the side of the van. Menu updates constantly occur so having the board be easily removable was a massive advantage.
